Commentators Curse

Last night the mighty Australian mens basketball team, The Boomers, took on "The Dream Team" of America. Now as you may well know I don't get particularly agitated over sports, (ahem) but what the hell happened!! We were leading by 10 points at the first break kept the lead for two more quarters and scored a massive 7 points in the final quarter to lose by ten points. Way to go guys!! (I'm making that sound the stupid Americans make when they shake their fist in a backwards and forwards motion)

It wasn't all our boys fault though! Andrew Gaze, who was commentating, put the biggest mocka possible on the boys.
"The Americans have played woefull basketball all tournament, they would want to lift their act" before the opening tip off.
"Our boys are playing out of their skin. I don't see America beating this team" 3 minutes 18 secs into the second quarter
and constantly saying how disappointing the dream team was playing and quoting stats about their poor performances. Thanks a lot. You now go into the same league as Dunning and Warne.

However poor the result, from a sport that less than inspires the Americans can entertain I will give them that. All through the match the crowd jeered whenever they had the ball and misses were met with raptuous applause. In the final quarter they turned on the good stuff. "Show time" I think it is referred to, much to the delight of the crowd who was left to groan at the ability of the boomers to choke like Greg Norman on a chicken bone in a Chicko Roll. They showed their true ability and showed Australia what it is like to play in the best league in the world (and by best I mean highest paying) The Americans scored their last ten or so points with massive dunks which left our boys looking for somewhere to hide.

They might be overpaid, over sexed, over developed, under educated beasts, but they can win over a crowd.

P.S. this would never of happened if "Filthy" Phil Smithe was "running the boards and dishing it out in the paint" instead of that bleached blonde twat Shane "The hammer" Heal was dragging his sorry arse around the court. (I think he stole his name of Mark "Sparkles" Mcgaw from ARL/Gladiators fame who's stage name was also "The Hammer")
