Poo will choke

Australia take on Spain in the final of the Davis Cup this weekend. They do this at home and on their chosen surface, grass.

I'm sure Philippoussis, when he chokes, will at some stage point to the overwhelming pressure placed on him by the fans. There may also be some reference to the 'weight of expectations'.

Whatever excuses emerge, these would be the most ill-chosen. True, many Australian sports fans may have solid expectations for the Poo, but they won't be expectations of victory. So when the Poo fails to retain serve four times in a row at two sets to love in front and 4-1 in the third, then gets rolled in the fouth and fifth sets 7-5, 6-2 to lose the deciding singles rubber, he will actually have lived up to expectations. What a champion.

As I stated before the RWC final last weekend, after bagging the crap out of Matt Rogers, I don't mind at all if my negative prognosis is proved wrong. This would be just fine. Although I was right about Matt Rogers - couldn't kick his mother down the stairs with an electrified kicking machine.

If only we were playing England in this final too. Although that's probably a bit far fetched...
