Here we go again

Forgive me for sounding cynical, but the start of Australia's World Cup qualifying campaign seems awful familiar.

The team flogged Tahiti (check it out here) - woo.

These campaigns always seem to follow the same route - big wins in the first, and sometimes second, stages of Oceania qualifying, a bit of a scare against New Zealand, and then utter disappointment in a play-off.

I guess I'm putting these thoughts down on record now so that I can compare my expectations to what eventually unfolds.

Fingers crossed that I'm wrong about the last part of my prediction.
