That England match
Well, I have to agree with Georg. It was a mighty odd way to take in a football match. I don't regret it for a second though. Watching the match unfold in real time made it all worthwhile.
In time, we'll forget that odd feeling that comes with being outlandishly sober in a pub with the sun coming up outside, but I wager we won't forget the drama of the football match.
I've been trying so hard to follow this Euro tournament through news reports and photos, but you can't really get the full spectator experience this way. "Live and in full" coverage really means something in these tournaments.
And its made all the harder by the fact that, even though Fox Sports has live coverage, its bloody hard to (a) get up at an early enough time to watch it, and (b) find a public establishment with a Fox feed that is open at that time of day/night.
The last World Cup was a tv viewer's wonderland! All matches in near prime time slots! Perhaps we can lobby to have Euro 2008 in Australia...
