Everyone loves Gary Jack!

With news of the possible return to a 16 team NRL competition, all eyes (probably) turn to John Singleton. Once again the possibility of a Central Coast team has been touted, and you would have to give them an outside chance of getting in. Let’s face it, half of league’s traditional heartland has packed up the commodore and moved to a new ‘estate’ in Woy Woy.

I’m sure they’d love a team to call their own – all the blokes up there must surely be sick of wearing some other team’s stubbies down to Tuggerah Westfield. I’ve seen reports that Singo is attempting to rip-off North Sydney RLFC’s mascot and colours – as long as Norths’ appalling record for losing in the last 10 minutes of important matches is not part of the deal, they should be set!

Of course, those of us who grew up with the NSWRL (and not the ARL, Superleague or NRL), and who have an appreciation for the traditional Sydney clubs will know there is only one real option. We have seen expansion clubs come and go (Gold Coast Seagulls, Gold Coast Chargers, South-East Queensland Crushers, Adelaide Rams, Western Reds, Hunter Mariners, Northern Eagles) and we know that a club with roots in its community and a history of representing its local area is the best long term option in a sport where the turning of a dollar revolves around fans feeling connected to the teams on the field.

I guess this is just a long way for me to say, send the Magpies back to Ashfield, get the tiges back to Leichhardt, kill off Melbourne Storm forever and bring back the Jets!
