Putting Hoppa in the shade

From UEFA.com magazine (via Football365)

'Diego Maradona famously had his hand of God, but semi-legendary Sevilla FC player Pablo Alfaro has a hand of an entirely different nature. The bearded defender, who has seen more red cards than any other Primera División player in his 15-year career, recently excelled himself in a game against Club Atlético de Madrid with perhaps the ultimate tackle from behind on debutant Toché. Taking man-marking to a ludicrous extreme during the Copa del Rey game, Alfaro plunged his finger inside Toché's rectum in an incident which was missed by the referee but picked up by Spanish press photographers. "I was defending my team to the limit," he explained. "I'll be watched like a hawk now, but I'm used to it."

Oddly, the man who claimed earlier this season that football in Spain had become "too effeminate" is also a qualified doctor - an irony that was not lost on Marca columnist Roberto Palomar. "Alfaro never takes off his white coat," he wrote. "He is so dedicated as to carry out a rectal examination in the middle of a match. That's a real urologist, always on call. You go up for a corner and suddenly he's checking your prostate. Not many doctors would do that."'
