Hello Sailor!

I wager I'm not alone in taking huge delight in the outstanding performance of Rathbone in the Wallabies/England match over the weekend.

Three tries in his first run-on match - couldn't be happier for him.

Also, I couldn't be happier that this performance demonstrated so well the complete lack of rugby talent possessed by the incumbent winger, Mr Sailor. Best match Wendell was ever involved in.

It is a bit disconcerting that it took this long for any official Wallaby type of person to publicly acknowledge what any half-sentient rugby fan knew from day one - Wendell is not a rugby player. You actually have to have a set of rugby-specific skills, and a knowledge of the game, to play it well. Especially at international level.

I think it is also a bit disconcerting that it wasn't until another winger showed us all how it is done, that there was real public discussion of how unsuited Wendell is to that role. Its as if the ARU were too embaressed to admit their mistake (and what an expensive one it was too, it makes Gasnier's $50,000 voice-mail look paltry). It seems as if they were waiting until there was some kind of crisis point - that they would only drop Wendell and admit their lapse in judgement once the outcry had reached a crescendo.

Well, maybe its not too much of a problem for them, with the amount of money they've got lying around anyway.
