Smells fishy

It seems to me that the Roosters players must be a happy, easy going lot. They must be happy to receive pretty 'average' (in NRL terms) salaries, otherwise how could all of the club's stars fit under the salary cap? And now they've added another player to their list (Amos Roberts), who could be described as better than most.

It has been reported that the loss of Hegarty and Hodges have allowed Easts extra room to move, but a quick look at just some of the talent on the player list makes you wonder: Walker, Cross, Byrne, Minicello, Cayless, Morley, Ricketson, Finch, Wing, Flannery and Fittler. All stars worthy of top tier payments.

Then, consider the position of St George-somethingorother, or Parra a few seasons ago. Both clubs had built solid first-grade teams, only to be faced with significant losses of talent because the players' value increased significantly over time. Retaining those players became a lost cause (or will be, in the case of St George).

Besides which, I really like the mix of conspiracy theory and sport. Adds a whole other dimension to it.
